Is it possible to obtain positive specific IgE results if total IgE is within the normal range?
ImmunoCAP Total IgE
The normal range for ImmunoCAP Total IgE generally used for adults is <100kU/l. A positive result for a specific allergen is defined as >/= 0.35 kUA/l.
The different concentration levels of specific IgE compared with total IgE consequently make it possible to obtain values below 100 kU/l for total IgE, and several positive specific IgE results for a patient. For further information about ImmunoCAP assays for detection of atopic patients, please refer to the Knowledge base document Phadiatop, design and performance.
