Allergy
There is increasing evidence that the frequency of atopic diseases – not only allergic rhinitis and asthma, but also atopic dermatitis – has increased worldwide over the last few decades. Despite their relatively low mortality, allergic diseases represent a growing socio-economic burden in many countries. Preventive and educational measures are probably the most cost-effective means for coping with the increased prevalence of allergic diseases. For successful long-term management of the allergic patients it is essential to identify and reduce exposure to relevant allergens and irritants.
